Meet Sharon Carson

Sharon Carson has spent more than two decades serving the people of New Hampshire — and a lifetime serving her country and community.

A retired Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve, where she served from 1978 to 1995, Sharon brought a soldier's discipline and work ethic to public service. She was first elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 2000, where she served four terms before being elected to the New Hampshire Senate in 2008 to represent District 14 — Auburn, Hudson, and Londonderry.

Her colleagues have repeatedly chosen her for leadership: President Pro Tempore, Senate Majority Leader, and in December 2024, she was unanimously elected the 132nd President of the New Hampshire Senate. Her national influence has also been recognized by The Hill, which named her one of the top 50 women shaping policy in America.

Beyond the State House, Sharon is an adjunct professor of history and political science at Nashua Community College. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in American History from the University of New Hampshire and has completed her doctoral exams while working toward her Ph.D.

Sharon's community involvement runs deep: she has served with the Southern NH Planning Commission, the State Veterans Advisory Committee, the Manchester Airport Authority, the St. Anselm Ethics in Governance board, and numerous Londonderry community organizations, including the Londonderry Grange and Old Homes Day Committee. She was also a longtime leader in the Women in Government organization.

Sharon and her husband live in Londonderry, where they raised their two daughters. When she's not at the State House, you'll find her reading history, gardening, knitting — or visiting the farms of District 14, in every season.
