Senate Republicans Target Drug Trafficking

CONCORD, NH – Senate Majority Leader Sharon Carson (R-Londonderry), Senator Bill Gannon (R-Sandown), and Daryl Abbas (R-Salem) issued the following joint statement today on the introduction of SB 316-FN, SB 414-FN, and SB 415-FN:

“Keeping New Hampshire the safest state in the nation means keeping drugs and criminals off our streets. Black market Fentanyl is incredibly dangerous and we are working on keeping it out of the Granite State. Mandatory minimum sentences for drug trafficking will make drug dealers think twice about setting up shop in New Hampshire.

We are continuing to fight against drug trafficking, especially with fentanyl-related offenses, for the safety and protection of our state. Strong laws against these drug trafficking crimes will make our communities safer.”

Background: SB 316-FN would establish a mandatory minimum penalty for transporting and attempting to distribute drugs in New Hampshire. Senator Abbas is the prime sponsor.

SB 414-FN would enact a mandatory minimum sentence for drug dealers when their illegal drugs kill people. Senator Gannon is the prime sponsor.

SB 415-FN would add mandatory minimum sentences for fentanyl-related offenses. Senator Gannon is the prime sponsor.
